I am a PhD student at Oregon State University majoring in Computer Science with a focus on machine learning. In conjuction with this I an NFS IGERT Fellow participating in the Ecosystem Informatics program which strives to facilitate interdisciplinary research and collaboration around ecosystem sciences.
It is important to me that I strike a balance between being a good student and being a well rounded individual. That means that occaissionally I sacrifice some class points to participate in the greater world in some way even if it only enjoying the weather in the garden. While this doesn't create a 4.0 student it does create a healthier and happier student.
